Mebratu, D. & Swilling, M. (eds.) 2019. Tranformational Infrastructure for Development of a Wellbeing Economy in Africa. Stellenbosch: Sun Media.
This book was launched last week at the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) that took place in Durban. The gentlemen in the pic on the left are (from left to right) Dr. Frank Turyatunga, Deputy Director of UNEP-Africa, Dr. Patrick Mwesigye, Uganda, Dr Henry Roman, Director at DST, South Africa and Christoff Pauw from Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Studies. In the pic on the right Desta Mebratu (far left) is with current President of AMCEN and Environment Minister of Gabon (Lee White) and Director of the UNEP Africa Office in the middle.
Very proud to be launching a new book co-edited with Prof Desta Mebratu, an Ethiopian researcher and policy advocate who has worked on an African perspective on sustainability since the mid-1990s. His famous 1998 article has been read by my students every year since 2003 as a compulsory reading.
