Just delivered a talk at the Resource Governance Workshop convened by the International Resource Panel in Davos, Switzerland. Took up the challenge laid down yesterday by the ECLAC representative to think in terms of a global architecture and regionally, rather than a ‘sustainable development licence to operate’ which reproduces the old way of doing things that leaves everything up to the sovereign governments to deal with massive transnational mining corporations with expensive lawyers and complex financing mechanisms.
