Very interesting. Seeing the state capture for what it is is somewhat less alarming than I thought it would be. I think that the caprure mechanisms and systems that have been empoyed actually create opportunities for a quick flip by a leader with moral fibre that promotes a collective leadership style.
Only thing I disagree with is *The ANC needs to reclaim its historic mission and in particular what radical economic transformation means.*
Its an oxymoron. Perhaps the ANC should rather be left to die its own death while the centre and left continue with their transformative grassroots initiatives so that by 2019 the new leader has the foundations for radical transformation intact and in place.
Dear Mark I disagree with your argument -the state capture started at the Kempton park negotiations there’s been very much a rogue power elite that so to speak crossed the Rubicon and diseased the institution arrangements that’s thwarted the productive capacity that has – legislated the captive mechanisms by arguing for capacity skills sets transfer , the share value movement which accelerating the bleeding of vampires by Neo liberal tight rope workers , in this instance government like the OLD Anc intelligencia don’t underestimate the deliberate bleeding and tearing process the parasitically determined need to transfer power simply is a by product of the blacksheep inheritance for lack of better term if a highly indebted state that has realized debt finance of public service investments and labor can creatively support the decolonization of political party apparatus – all the jargon does not realistic – deal with targeted inequality why because they bought the jargon unable to translate policies , leadership intent and mass mobilization- sadly distrust is the order of the game – we need new language because social science has not found a solution it’s created the monster and produced more phDs that have not helped solve a problem, finally the Guptas came in late and are only piggy backing as arm chair supporters of the a atrocities of bleeding that’s already seen the actual accumulation has been for example , salary parity, gender parities – across govt and business in the past twenty years – you have to frame the problem from a more accurate timeline look at Denel, Petrosa ,Telekom. These problems are not unique and historically existed way before Zuma or
Looks to me like you actually agree with our analysis: you are just adding to our analysis (which of course cannot cover everything because that is the nature of writing – it is by definition about a finite reality) and thus reinforcing the general critical frame of mind that is needed to understand our crisis. It is of course always preferable for those who share the view that fundamental change is needed to emphasize where they agree rather than where they disagree because certain aspects have been neglected. Our differences are our strength, but only if they reinforce a unity of purpose. Thanks for this contribution.
Rebirth process and exorcising the policy process needs oracle leadership the values and consciousness of the new change makers demands letting of everything as we know it
Distressing but motivating. Thank you, Mark and Khule. Thanks to SI for arranging for public to engage on this critical subject.
